Fun Exercises with the Little One

It is undeniable that exercise has various benefits for health. These benefits are not only felt by adults, but also children from all age groups. However, let us have a look at the various benefits of exercise for children. Exercise can benefit the Little One in the following ways:

  • Physical Activity. A clearly visible benefit is in terms of the physical health of the Little One. Exercise reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, as well as aids in bone and muscle growth and the maintenance of an ideal body weight.
  • Psychological Benefits. Participating in exercise activities can help the Little One interact better with children their age as well as those older than them. They will learn about leadership, develop abilities to work within a team, and understand how to communicate well. The Little One will also be more confident and be able to implement a self-critiquing system that they require to improve themselves.

With the aforementioned benefits, parents should accustom the Little One to exercise from an early age to ensure that exercise becomes part of their daily routine. By doing so, parents will help the Little One to maintain their health in the long term.

Make exercise sessions become an enjoyable activity that can be conducted with other family members. This does not require participating in serious exercise activities such as running around the residential complex or spending money by going to the gymnasium. Simple daily activities can also be done, such as:

Get Accustomed to Walking

Accustom the Little One to walk to places that are within short distances. For instance, when going to the residential complex park, supermarket, or classes that are located nearby. If the distance is slightly further, opt for using a bicycle. At the location, if it is required to go up and down one or two floors, use the regular staircases instead of escalators.

Clean the House while Exercising

This will make Moms happy, as they will be helped in cleaning the house. Turn household chores into fun activities for the Little One. Create a game as though the Little One is a superhero who will fight enemies that are dusts and germs by wiping, mopping, or sweeping.

Dancing and Singing Together

Utilize the musical collection of Dads (or oven the Little One’s). Turn on the music and encourage them to dance and sing together. To make the activities more fun, ask other relatives and friends to participate.

Exercising while Playing

This activity will be a good opportunity for parents to introduce various games that they used to play when they were young, such as police-and-thief, hide-and-seek, gobak sodor, and other activities. The Little One will be encouraged to do a lot of movements. In addition, sport games, such as football, basketball, and volleyball, can also be played by older children.

Walking the Pets

Do you have a pet dog or cat? Take the Little One to participate in evening walks to accompany the household pet. Without realizing, they will have already walked a far distance.

Other than being beneficial for the physical and mental health of the Little One, exercising together will strengthen the relationship ties within the family. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s play outside!
