However, Daddy and Mommy should understand that a multivitamin supplement is not a substitute for food but simply a complement of nutritional intake alone.

According to nutritionists, giving a new multivitamin is needed when the child experiences conditions such as in a need for nutrition and an unbalanced intake, chronic medical condition such as asthma or gastrointestinal problem, condition of undergoing energy draining activity (e.g. exercise), and condition of dietary restriction (e.g.vegetarian diet).

Understand very well about the contents in the supplement. Know the difference of each dose size such as mg, mcg, ml, and so on to avoid inappropriate dosage.

  • Check expiration date, BPOM (Food and Drug Administration) and Ministry of Health permit. Government approved products, e.g. approved by the Ministry of Health or by the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), are usually safe and meet the quality standards. Be careful with counterfeit goods.
  • Choose a supplement specifically for the Little One.

Never give adult supplements to the Little One, even in small doses.

  • Make sure that there is no contraindication.

If your Little One has certain diseases, make sure that the supplements which will be consumed will not contraindicate with the drug therapy given to the Little One. Discuss with your doctor first.

Provision of vitamin supplements can not be regarded as a quick solution of certain conditions. Fulfill the nutritional needs, including vitamins and minerals by giving them diverse foods and nutrients that contain calcium and magnesium (which keep the bone and teeth density) and vitamin D (helps calcium absorption).
