Field Trip: Learning While Playing

Usually, each school has an agenda for field trip so children can learn new things during the trip. This will be very beneficial to children’s development.

The study towards a group of early childhood education in Bengkulu showed that children’s naturalist intelligence increased by 20 percent through field trips. Children who have naturalist intelligence are very interested in the nature, plants, animals, and environment. They generally like to play outdoors, enjoy the nature and love animals – they are not afraid of or disgusted to touch them, and have the instinct to preserve.

Children blessed with naturalist intelligence will be excited to explore in the open. Field trips can accommodate this by giving children the chance to have hands-on experience, gain inspirations and explore new ideas.

Before the field trip, Moms should tell them the purpose of the activities. Otherwise children will consider it as a general trip. Through field trips, children can interact with nature and living things in it, and gain new experience. This can trigger them to ask questions beyond their understanding from what they find, so the creativity and critical mindset will be honed.

By observing the nature and how they interact and survive, children will hone their cognitive and emotional abilities. If children feel an emotional bond with the nature and living things in it then they will develop the behavior of environmental caring.

The learning style that fit with the children’s multiple intelligence will make the learning time into a fun activity. Surely this will make the children to be willing to learn and exploring things that they don’t know yet. Then children will develop naturally and their potential will be optimal.

If it turns out that your children have naturalist intelligence, Moms could start throwing questions about what place they want to visit. The answer will be interesting.
