Exercising with Your Children

Exercising has tons of benefits for health as people of all age groups can feel the benefits. Exercise regularly does not only beneficial for physical health, but also good for mental development.

The benefits for exercising for physical health include lowering the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure as well as preventing obesity. Exercising can boost self-confidence, academically motivate the children and hone their social skills.

In order for the children to get used to exercise regularly, Moms and Dads should familiarize them to exercise at the young age. By getting them used to exercise, Moms and Dads have helped them to maintain their health for a long term.

Children probably have not understood yet about the importance of exercising, therefore Moms and Dads should make the exercising activity becomes fun to be done together.

Exercising with the children does not mean that you have to do heavy activities or spend money by going to a special gym for children. Simply include exercise into your daily routine. Here are some examples of what you could do together with your children:

Exercising while Playing

Moms and Dads could get the children to do games that require them to move a lot, such as the police and the thieves, hide and seek, go back to the door, and so on. Sports games like soccer and basketball can also be played by older children.

Get Used to Walking

Try to occasionally take your children to walk to some places close to the house. For example, walking to the park; going to a neighbor’s house, supermarkets or their tutoring place. If those places are quite far, cycling can be an alternative. If they want to go up or down for only 1 or 2 floors, try not to use the elevator, ask them to take the stairs instead.

Exercising while Cleaning the House

Children can exercise while doing some house chores. To work this out, Moms and Dads should turn the chores into fun games. Make it as if they are super heroes who will crush the enemy in the form of dust and germs by wiping, mopping, or sweeping.

Dancing and Singing Together

Play their favorite song, then ask them to dance and sing together. To make it more exciting, ask some relatives and friends to dance and sing along as well.

Taking the Pet for a Walk

Children must love to take the pet for an afternoon walk around the neighborhood. They are not only doing a physical exercise but also carrying out the responsibilities as pet owners.

See, exercising does not mean to be complicated and spending money, right? With the above alternatives, children can get the benefits of exercising and you could spend some quality time together as a family.
